Support & partners

A lot is happening here with very little. With the right support, UI mathematics students in Nigeria can stay better connected to mainstream mathematics and global research.

This website shows a small picture of what NAMSSN UI is trying to build: problem labs, coding sessions, Manim and LaTeX training, outreach, and a student bulletin – all driven by students in the Global South.

One big challenge is simple: access. Many bright Nigerian students are far from the β€œcentre” of mathematics because they cannot easily reach paywalled journals, modern textbooks, powerful computer algebra systems, or even steady electricity during seminars.

What your support helps to close
  • β€’ Gaps created by paywalls – access to journals, modern textbooks, and key computational tools such as Mathematica, Maple, and Matlab is simply out of reach for most students. These are standard resources elsewhere but remain inaccessible luxuries here.
  • β€’ Gaps caused by unstable electricity during seminars and study sessions. A single outage can cut short a coding demonstration, interrupt a live calculation, switch off a projector mid-explanation, or force a class to abandon a problem they were actively solving. Reliable power keeps learning continuous.
