A simple hub for the chapter’s occasional online events: Zoom sessions, alumni conversations and problem hours, together with their links and recordings.

How this online hub is used

NAMSSN UI does not run online talks every week. Instead, this page is kept for special occasions: when a mini-seminar, conversation, or problem session is held online and needs a clear home.

  • • When an online event is confirmed, the details appear here with a clear access link.
  • • After the event, the card can stay on the page as part of the archive.
  • • Recordings, slides, and reflections can be linked from the archive area below.

The content is maintained by NAMSSN UI student leaders and volunteers so that each new set of officers can continue from where the previous team stopped.

What appears here: the title, speaker, date, time, and access link for the next online event hosted by the chapter. During quieter periods, this card can simply state that the next online event will be announced in the usual NAMSSN channels.

Past online sessions & sample formats

Whenever the chapter hosts an online event, it can be added here as an archive card. The examples below show the kind of sessions that may appear over the years. Future executives can replace or extend these cards with real events and dates.

Mini-seminar Analysis
Closing gaps in Real Analysis
Focus: epsilon–delta arguments, typical exam questions, and how to read statements in analysis textbooks without skipping subtle points.
Who usually leads: a member of the Department or a trusted tutor from the chapter.
Level: 200–400.
When this kind of session is held online, the Zoom link, date and, later, the recording can all be associated with this card.
Conversation Alumni
Studying mathematics abroad – honest experiences
Format: one or more alumni join from their current universities to discuss applications, scholarships, supervision, teaching styles, and culture shock.
Audience: open to all interested students, especially levels 300–500 and recent graduates.
Registration details and, afterwards, a recording or summary can be linked here and in the Student Bulletin.
Problem session Contest flavour
Online problem hour – integrals, inequalities, and tricks
Structure: a short opening talk, then a guided walk through selected problems inspired by past contests and course examples.
Connection: problems and solutions can later feed into the ODE–Integration Bee and other chapter contests.
Curated solutions may appear in the Problems hub or the Student Bulletin.
Joint event Cross-campus
Online joint session with other universities
Idea: collaborate with mathematics associations from other universities to host online sessions: reading seminars, thematic mini-courses, or problem discussions.
Benefit: students experience a wider mathematical community while staying in UI.

Archive & recordings

Over time, this section can grow into a small library of materials from past online events. It is designed so that each online occasion leaves a clear trace:

  • • A short description of the event and when it took place.
  • • A direct link to the recording (if available) or to slides and notes.
  • • A connection to a longer write-up in the Student Bulletin, when one exists.

New student leaders can simply add a new archive card after each online event, keeping the story of the chapter’s online activity easy to explore even if the events themselves are occasional.
